APPLICATION REQUIREMENTS

The application and continuation procedures of the double major/minor programs are stated in the Orta Doğu Teknik Üniversitesi Directive for Double Major Programs and Directive for Minor Programs which can be reached through the below-given links:

The students who apply to the Department of Chemistry for Double Major 

• should have passed the courses of General Chemistry (CHEM 101, CHEM 102, CHEM 105, CHEM 106, CHEM 107, CHEM 111, CHEM 112) with at least BB
• should have passed the other courses taken from the Chemistry department with at least CB 

The students who apply to the Department of Chemistry for Minor 

• should have passed the courses of General Chemistry (CHEM 101, CHEM 102, CHEM 105, CHEM 106, CHEM 107, CHEM 111, CHEM 112) with at least CB and/or success in other courses taken from the Chemistry department 

The students who apply to the Department of Mathematics for Double Major

• should have passed MATH 117-118 or MATH 119-120 or MATH 157-158 or Math 151-152 or MATH 155-156 with at least BB in addition to fulfilling the requirements stated in the regulation. Students who have successfully completed MATH 153 and MATH 154 will not be required to have taken these courses. 
• Additional criteria of the Department of Mathematics can also be accessed from the http://math.metu.edu.tr/en/double-major-and-minor website.

The students who apply to the Department of Industrial Design for Double Major

• should have passed MATH 117-118 or MATH 119-120 or MATH 125-126 or Math 153-154 with at least BB in addition to fulfilling the requirements stated in the regulation. 
• should have passed MATH 219 or MATH 254 or MATH 260 or MATH 261 with at least CC in addition to fulfilling the requirements stated in the regulation. 

The students who apply to the Department of Mathematics for Minor 

• should have passed MATH 117-118 or MATH 119-120 or MATH 157-158 or Math 151-152 or MATH 155-156 with at least CB in addition to fulfilling the requirements stated in the regulation. Students who have successfully completed MATH 153 and MATH 154 will not be required to have taken these courses. 
• Additional criteria of the Department of Mathematics can also be accessed from the http://math.metu.edu.tr/en/double-major-and-minor website.

The students who apply to the Department of Economics for Minor

• should have passed ECON 101 or ECON 211 or BA 2801 courses with a minimum CC grade
• ECON 102 or ECON 212 or ECON 122 with minimum CC grade
• MATH 120 or MATH 116 or MATH 117 or MATH 125 or MATH 126 with minimum DD grade in addition to fulfilling the requirements stated in the regulation.

The students who apply for the German Language for Minor are supposed to have a German language level of at least B1.

The students who apply to the Department of Industrial Design Operational Research and Production Planning and Control for Minor

• should have passed MATH 117-118 or MATH 119-120 or MATH 125-126 or Math 153-154 with at least BB in addition to fulfilling the requirements stated in the regulation. 
• should have passed MATH 219 or MATH 254 or MATH 260 or MATH 261 with at least CC in addition to fulfilling the requirements stated in the regulation. 

NOTE: It is recommended that before application students read announcements, related regulations, and the catalog of the program they apply for (courses, the total number of courses that should be taken as prerequisites) from the related department's website.

APPLICATION PROCESS 

Double Major and Minor applications will be done under the title of  DOUBLE MAJOR/MINOR APPLICATIONS given on the following web page https://application.metu.edu.tr/

Candidates should enter the link above with their user code and password.

Candidates should mark their preferences among the listed major/minor programs (order of the preferences should be considered). Maximum 5 programs can be selected.

There will be no document submission (transcript, application form) to Registrar’s Office.

ANNOUNCEMENT OF RESULTS OF PRE-EVALUATION AND EVALUATION

Phase I: Pre-evaluation

Depending on the application procedures stated in the related regulation, the applicants are evaluated. Applications of the candidates, fulfilling the requirements, are submitted to the related academic units. Applications of the candidates, which do not fulfill the requirements, are “rejected” during the application process.

After the pre-evaluation, students who are not accepted due to not satisfying application requirements are informed via email. 

Phase II: Evaluation

Candidates who satisfied the application criteria and whose application was evaluated affirmative by the related academic units are announced on the following webpage: https://application.metu.edu.tr/  (Application for Double Major and Minor Program).

If a student applies for both transfer and major/minor programs at the same time and gets admission for transfer, then his application for major/minor programs is not evaluated even if there are enough quotas for those programs.
