Due to the global pandemic of COVID-19, all courses, exams, and evaluations for the Spring semester of 2019-2020 Academic Year continue only with digital facilities and distance learning methods since March 23, 2020. In line with these measures, English Proficiency Exam (EPE) for the graduate program applications planned to be held in-class on April 08, 2020, was canceled. The EPE, which is planned to be held online on September 02, 2020, will be only for the Department of Basic English students who have the right to take the exam within the framework of the regulation.

In the global epidemic period, it is not possible to make the EPE in a classroom environment with face-to-face methods as our priority is to protect the health of our students and our academic and administrative staff who will be required to take part in the process. The alternative of conducting this exam online for crowded groups has been examined in detail. However, such a method has not been found suitable because it has the potential to lead to significant problems in issues such as identity checks and examinations to be conducted under reliable conditions. Thus, the EPE, which is planned to be held online on September 02, 2020, will not be open to students who are planning to apply for graduate programs.

While all the mentioned arrangements are being made, efforts have been made to produce alternative ways to minimize the obstacles before our graduates and graduate candidates who plan to apply for a postgraduate degree. In this context, to be valid only for the 2020-2021 Fall Semester graduate program applications, candidates who have graduate or will graduate from an undergraduate or graduate program at our university on or after January 2017 will be exempted from submitting an English proficiency exam document. These applicants will be deemed to have met the condition.

For METU students who have graduated at any time before January 2017 and for non-METU graduates, exam results within the framework of the criteria stated in the following link will continue to be carried out routinely.
