Dear Students,

Due to the current COVID-19 pandemic that we are in, it has been decided to bring some flexibility to regulations of our university concerning the below-listed processes and the stages of these processes has been extended, only to be enforced in the Fall Semester of the 2020-2021 academic year. Accordingly, regarding the two cases listed below, the deadline has been prolonged to January 15^th, 2021, the last day of classes for the Fall semester:

• For all our students: Registration freeze requests that are expected to be done by the end of the add-drop period of the concerning term, but could not be completed within that time frame
• For our graduate school students who are at the thesis stage: Extension of Time Requests made to benefit the additional time right granted by The Council of Higher Education (YÖK)

The procedures to be followed regarding our students' requests about Registration Freeze and Extension of Time are as follows:

1. The student e-mails the request to the Department Chair and cc’s the advisor (the aforementioned e-mail must be sent from @metu.edu.tr mail account)
2. The advisor indicates whether the request is accepted or not with the “Reply All” option.
3. Department Chair evaluates the request and the convenience of the process and sends the request to the relevant Dean’s Office / Institute Directorate.
4. Faculty/Institute Councils inform the Registrar’s Office about the decisions taken regarding the Registration Freeze and Extension of Time requests of students after evaluating them.

• Students doing their Bachelor’s will be able to withdraw from one more course than they are normally allowed to in one semester.  Thus, this Fall semester Course Withdrawals will be completed following the schedule given below for maximum 2 courses. No changes will be made on this schedule.
