IMPORTANT DATES

Transfer can be made according to "The Regulation for Student Transfer Between Associate Degree and Bachelor’s Degree Programs, Double Major and Minor Programs and Course Credit Transfers Between Institutions of Higher Education Council"  and "Middle East Technical University  Directive for Student Transfers  For Associate and Bachelor’s Degree Programs".

Transfers are made between the Associate and Bachelor’s degree programs at ODTÜ and other institutions of higher education whose equivalency is recognized by the Higher Education Council.  

APPLICATION REQUIREMENTS

Quota types, requirements for an application based on the quota types, conditions for OSYS, and equivalent examinations are defined in the Middle East Technical University Directive of Transfer in the below-mentioned link.

In addition to the application requirements of this regulation, the following criteria are used by Faculty of Arts and Sciences as a standard for evaluation ranking. 

For candidates who apply to the Faculty of Arts and Sciences;

The ratio of the ÖSS / LYS / YKS scores for the year that the candidate was admitted to the university to the general quota base score of that year should not be lower than 0.950.

Important Note: The applications of the candidates who are not sufficient to meet the above-mentioned requirements are rejected by the relevant Faculty.

APPLICATION PROCEDURE

Applications are made through the TRANSFER APPLICATIONS title given on the following web page: https://application.metu.edu.tr/. METU students log into the application system by using their username and password. 

Candidates should mark their preferences among the listed programs (order of the preferences should be considered). Maximum 3 programs can be selected.

REQUIRED DOCUMENTS

METU Students

• METU students do not submit any document (transcript etc.) to the Registrar’s Office.
• Document proof  of not receiving any disciplinary action (The Registrar's office will prepare the document)

Students from METU Northern Cyprus Campus 

• Transcript: Transcript indicating all the courses followed their grades and Cumulative Grade Point Average from the current institution of the student. A photocopy cannot be accepted.
• Student Certificate
• Document proving not having any disciplinary action. 
• ÖSYS or equivalent exam result/high school diploma score: Exam results submitted to the current universities by the applicants while applying to that university like DGS, YKS, GCE, SAT, ABİTUR...(for TC/KKTC applicants who studied abroad, criteria written in the abovementioned Directive is valid). 

IMPORTANT NOTE: For transfer applications, you need to provide an exam result or high school diploma score along with your university transcript. The exam result/high school diploma score you submit for transfer application will be evaluated by considering the year you have taken the result in question. Your exam result/high school diploma score will be evaluated by considering whether you could be accepted to METU in the year you have taken the score if you had applied to METU. If the exam or diploma score you have applied to your current university does not satisfy the application criterion for transfer to METU (either because exam/diploma score does not satisfy the transfer criterion or because of expiration of validity date in the case of international exams (SAT, ACT)) you can still make a fresh application to undergraduate programs at METU as an international student. In this case, you can make an application to undergraduate programs by taking a new exam score of SAT or ACT, since in the transfer process you can only submit the exam/diploma score you used to apply to your current university and do not accept any other. If your freshmen application gets accepted, you can still make a credit transfer if your new department at METU accepts it. • Copy of the university catalog: Certified copies of the related pages of the university catalog including information about curriculum, course content, departmental information of the applicants’ program, and completed semesters.
• Copy of national Id card/ passport copy

ANNOUNCEMENT OF RESULTS OF PRE-EVALUATION AND EVALUATION

Phase I.: Pre-evaluation

Depending on the application procedures stated in the related regulation, the applicants are evaluated. Applications of the candidates, fulfilling the requirements, are submitted to the related academic units. Applications of the candidates, which do not fulfill the requirements, are “rejected” during the application process.

After the pre-evaluation, ODTÜ students who are not accepted due to not satisfying application requirements are informed via email. 

Phase II.: Evaluation

Candidates who satisfied the application criteria and whose application was evaluated affirmatively by the related academic units are announced on the following webpage:https://application.metu.edu.tr/

ADAPTATION PROCESS

Within ODTÜ transfers, the courses and their grades taken from previous programs are included in the Cumulative Grade Point Average (except for the courses irrelevant to the transferred program) and the transcript of the transferred program. The adaptation process is done for courses with different codes.

Courses and their grades which are taken from the previous higher education institutions counted to the program that students enrolled and included the grade point average.

MAXIMUM DURATION 

The duration spent in the previous program is also considered for the calculation of the maximum education time of the new program. 

ID CARD

Students accepted for transfer apply for an ID card by visiting the site http://cardinfo.metu.edu.tr/.
