Medium of Instruction / Preparatory Class

The medium of instruction in METU is English; therefore, students who do not submit a valid English Proficiency Exam Result (TOEFL, IELTS or METU English Proficiency Exam) during the registration will need to attend English Preparatory Class at the Department of Basic English for one year.
Students who submit a valid English Proficiency Exam Result (TOEFL, IELTS or METU English Proficiency Exam) during the registration will be exempt from English Preparatory Class and will directly start their undergraduate courses.

The exams above are valid for two years.

The result of TOEFL PBT in the chart is valid only with the TWE (Test of Written English), TOEFL (Paper-based-Institutional TOEFL) given by institutions is not valid.
